A Question of Etiquette

Someone with an office is currently on speakerphone and we can all hear it. What’s the most passive-aggressive way to get them to close the fucking door?

Comments
  1. justalittletaste answered: repeat their conversation loudly
  2. jamiek answered: Move your chair right in front of his/her office door and have another co-worker with you. Mimic both sides of the conversation.
  3. balut answered: Have a juvenile conversation with someone outside the person’s office.
  4. itsjenjen answered: Three words: air raid sirens.
  5. tjpytheas answered: have you closed the door already?
  6. fancycwabs answered: “Here, let me close this for you.”
  7. bananacasts answered: Shoot. The. Glass.
  8. summerjane answered: Quietly go up and ease the door shut. If they ask later, who cares. Your reason is valid: You’re trying to work.
  9. kathyunderscorel answered: Zombie kittens
  10. jpsantori answered: Put on some earmuffs then go sit right next to them and stare.
  11. jemaleddin answered: Walk in, close the door, write a note on their desk to close the door, and walk out, leaving the door open.
  12. thedza answered: Cropdusting.
  13. lucyrcardo answered: close the fucking door.
  14. starsgoingbleu answered: Punch her in the face. (That might be more aggressive than passive-aggressive, though.)
  15. bdix answered: I think closing the door yourself would be a nice touch.
  16. smartasshat answered: Most passive is closing it yourself. Most aggressive is playing loud annoying music. Midway is being loud on your phone.
  17. kurafire answered: Just closing the door for them.
  18. jhuitz answered: Slam it shut as hard as you can, then open it and apologize saying that the voices made you do it, and walk away.
  19. brilliantorange answered: Anonymous note, with multiple exclamation points!!!
  20. socialismandrum answered: Close it for them. Then stage whisper, “you’re welcome”.
  21. brettkelly answered: coordinate with another coworker and have an inappropriately loud conversation right outside his office (but out of sight).
  22. myrm answered: Answer their comments being said in their conversation in a loud voice. Or walk by the door and go ‘Oh man! The hooker was a DUDE?!’
  23. jasgrant answered: Get on your speaker phone and call for tech support. Pick a company with offshore support so you have to repeat the conversation often.
  24. dadaoist answered: MOST passive agressive? I’d go lean on the door, listen in a bit. Then sit in their office. Keep inching closer. Soon, you’re cheek to cheek.
  25. puzzld answered: Start answering back to the phone, or making comments to what the people on the phone are saying. Happens at my office all the time.
  26. benmarvin answered: Walk by their door and let out a nasty fart. Either they close the door or they get to enjoy the fart. Win-Win.
  27. dysolution answered: 1. Find a porn video featuring a “screamer.” 2. Crank it.
  28. aimee-b-loved answered: Call your office phone with your cell phone and proceed to have a conversation w/ yourself on speakerphone about how annoying speakerphone is
  29. stacey727 answered: Run the copier or shredder. Hopefully it’s near the office.
  30. mattonfire answered: Just put your phone on speakerphone and call the cubicle next to yours. Have them put their phone on speaker as well.
  31. davislove answered: I would just go and close the door for them. But before you do make sure to make eye contact with them and give em an F-U smile.
  32. coyotesqrl answered: Walk by the door having a (fake) cellphone conversation too loudly. (S)he’ll close the door to cut out *your* noise.
  33. bananza answered: Go close the door.
